Myth # 14 - We have a covenant with God
Jesus has become the guarantee of a better covenant. - Heb 7:22
For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. Col: 3:3

Here is a widely accepted belief that is a myth! You and I could never, ever hold up our end of a covenant with a holy God - not for five minutes - even though many of us are still trying to!

The New Covenant is between the Father, and the Son. It is unbreakable. That is the essence of the Good News. The covenant was made with Abraham's seed - that's Jesus. You and I are hidden IN Jesus, that is why all the positive benefits of the New Covenant now apply to us. That is the great gift that was freely given when all of our sins, past, present, and future, were atoned for and forgiven.

When you were reborn by the Holy Spirit, you became a part of Christ's Body, and therefore partakers in the blessings of that Covenant -- you were given His unending life, His righteousness, His Spirit, and the right to call Him friend and brother. Just like it says in the verse above -- your life is now hidden with Christ in God. Our debt to the Law has been cancelled. Jesus will never, never leave you or forsake you. All your sins, past, present, and future, are as far away as east is from west. All the blessings and promises are ours in Jesus. The word "Gospel" means "News that is almost too good to be true".

In Christ we are positioned to have a free and unfettered relationship with God. So relax, and let His love flow through you. Jesus has finished it all.
