Who is Jesus?
Who exactly was Jesus? He referred to Himself as the "Son of God", and the "Son of Man".
Son of God
Jesus said "I and the Father are one". The religious leaders wanted to kill Him after hearing this because Jesus identified Himself as equal to God. Jesus also said that if we have seen Him, we've seen the Father. Jesus is the walking representation of the living God. He was honest, true, joyful, forgiving, loving, and personable.
Jesus asked His disciples, "Whom do you say that I am?" Peter answered that Jesus was the Son of God. Jesus told Him that it takes a revelation from God for people to recognize His true identity.
Son of Man
I have heard Christians wondering if when Jesus was a boy, He could wave His arms and get His chores done instantaneously! But Jesus was a human. The Bible says that He emptied Himself and gave up His position. Jesus did not do miracles from His own power and initiative. He was submitted to the Father. After Jesus was baptized and the Spirit descended on Him, He listened to the Father's directives and carried them out in the power of the Holy Spirit. He showed us how to live by being submitted to the Father, and empowered by His Spirit. Jesus said that we believers would do even greater things than He did.
Because Jesus came, we can know the character of God, and we can also know who we are as humans, submitted to God, with His Spirit in us.
"Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, who, being in the form of God, did not hold onto His equality with God, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bond servant, and coming in the likeness of men. " Phil 2: 5
