God Came Down
The maker of the universe decided to come here and walk among us. So, He was born as one of our own children... the Son of Heaven and Earth.
When He was here, we saw His personality. He wasn't a judgemental, scary, angry person. He had "joy above all His fellows". Kids climbed on Him. He spoke to kings and slaves, men and women, Jews and Romans, rich and poor people as if they were all of equal value in God's eyes - because we are.
He was angry when He saw people using God's name to hurt others. Jesus was passionate about His kingdom.
We saw that Jesus never hurt anybody because they were not following God. He never invoked tsunamis or floods or disasters. He never made anybody sick so that they would follow God... He only healed - everybody who came to Him! He never doled out "trials". He just rescued us from the battles that come with life.
He confronted the enemy on our behalf. He drove out Satan and explained that there is a big difference between Satan's Kingdom and God's.
He told us that, even though He was God, He didn't come to make slaves, but friends - true friends. He showed us that God cannot be bought. To be a friend of God is a gift. It is offered to everyone.
Jesus was amazingly patient and forgiving. He forgave His friends even when they abandoned Him completely. He forgave us and forgave us and forgave us.... until, at last, we dared to start becoming His friends. We dared to believe that He could really love us and would always love us.
Something in us began to change. We became real. We began to see ourselves and each other as worth something - worth a lot! We began to become like Him. We rejoiced that God's power was in us, just like it was in Jesus.
Then He died. We were stunned and didn't understand. But He knew why it had to be done. The message broke through when He rose from the dead and went to heaven as we watched. Our imperfections can no longer separate us from God. Heaven's gates are opened wide.
God Himself has been here - and He is still with us. He became one of our children, and now, we become His children - everyone who simply and sincerely asks to be a son or daughter. Nobody is ever turned down.
Peace on Earth, good will towards people!
